ADDICT is a collaborative dance performance originated by choreographer Madeline Maxine Roman, and premiered in March 2018. The work not only addresses the harmful stereotypes and societal assumptions placed on those facing addiction, but it tells the complex and dangerous story addiction weaves within our lives.
The $4,100 in proceeds from two sold-out shows of ADDICT went to the Helping Up Mission, a non-profit that works directly with those facing addiction.
Concept
The combination of photo, text, and type within a tight compositional frame simultaneously create distance and tension between subject and object. The type entraps and suffocates each subject within space, as the subject looks just the plane.
